Emails that have been stored for over 1 year are automatically archived to an “Online Archive” of your mailbox. This helps reduce the space needed for your Outlook profile and also increases performance.
To access these emails, follow the steps below:
- Open Outlook
- Go to your Mail
- Look in the mailbox list on the left hand side for a mailbox called “Online Archive – email@example.com”
- Expand that mailbox to view the folders inside (Note the speed of accessing folders and emails in this mailbox will be slower than normal. This is due to the fact that the emails are not saved on your computer, they are stored on Microsoft’s servers)
- You can open any folder in this mailbox to view the items that were archived from your standard mailbox. Folder structure will remain the same as when they were archived.
